Most people, when they begin a work at home business, first consider affiliate marketing as a method for generating an income. This is of course is one of the best places to start. There are a lot of perks that come with affiliate marketing. However, there is also a big misconception that it is the easiest thing a work at home beginner will ever do. It isnt, not unless you consider these tips.
You need a served market. Not all markets are goldmines. There are a lot of underserved markets out there and theyre that way for a reason- there is no money in them. In order to be profitable you need to locate potential niche markets and market affiliate products to them. You also have to determine the profit potential of that market before you get in. One way to determine if there is profit potential is to examine if an affiliate product already exists in the niche you are targeting. You can do this by searching at ClickBank marketplace. Look over existing products and see if there is a profitable affiliate program in place.
You need a list. Many affiliates assume that because they are promoting someone elses product, rather than their own, they dont need to connect with people. Nothing could be further from the truth. You need a list, because the money is in the list. But creating a list is only half the work you should have a relationship with your subscribers. The real profits are in the relationship you have with your list. Its a myth that your list has to be massive in order to be a super affiliate (although it is helpful), its how responsive your list is that makes the real difference.
You need to create a direct response. One of the most effective methods to creating affiliate commissions is to set up a simple direct response website to market your chosen affiliate program. This is called an affiliate leads response page. You want to have just one page for this site so that your visitor does not get distracted with anything else.
It should contain an opt-in page and a redirect to the affiliate sales page. This setup will allow you to
capture leads and to make profits from your website over and over.
Follow up with your leads. You will need an auto responder to feed your customers high quality content that they cant wait to devour. Your content should educate and build a relationship with your prospective customers. You can create a 7 day mini e-course or a monthly newsletter. Map out a schedule for your content.
Actively promote your lead capture page. You need send to traffic to your website, without it you have no business. Dont promote for a week or two and expect to generate a massive response. Many affiliates dont promote as hard as they should. You want to get to as many targeted visitors as possible to your leads capture page. This means getting in front of as many people as possible as often as possible. You can do this with Google adwords, articles, and getting active in forums. The more your out there the better.
Affiliate marketing is a great place to start for a work at home beginner but dont get caught up in the appeal of promoting other peoples products for a commission. Affiliate marketing like any other marketing method is work. Done correctly, however, it can produce a passive income for any looking to work from home.

How To Choose The Right Affiliate Product To Promote-By Thien Kai wei
By courtesy of Online Marketing Secrets
Choosing the right affiliate product to promote is one of the most important steps in achieving success. It can also be one of the most difficult to achieve for any beginner. Selecting the wrong product to promote can kill off your business before you even start it.
It is therefore imperative for you to know some basic skills in selecting affiliate products to promote, and so increasing your chances of achieving results.
Here, we will be covering why it's important to choose a product which you believe in, how to check if the market is viable to compete in, and what level of commission to expect.
Choose what you fully endorse
Before you sell, be a consumer first. Do research and search at Google for reviews on the affiliate product, as if you are purchasing a new, expensive High Definition LCD TV. When you think you have found one and AFTER you have completed the next step, you should buy it and go through it multiple times to familiar yourself with it.
Once you are certain that an affiliate product has the quality and worth your money as a consumer, will you be able to truly promote it as an affiliate. You should only sell what you fully endorse for. Only then can you convey that satisfaction and promote it successfully to your prospects.
You can try to 'fake' it but shoppers will be able to sense you are not telling the truth.
Demand and Competition
After you have found the affiliate product you like to promote, check out the demand and competition. Is there a substantial demand for the type of product you are promoting? Is there too much competition vying for that limited amount demand?
Use Yahoo's Keyword Tool at inventory.overture.com and type in the name of the affiliate product. The results that appear will show you how many times that product was search for using Yahoo during the past 30 days.
Next, go to Google or Yahoo and search using the name of the product. How many websites come up as the result? If you see only about 50 people searching for that product and there are more than 5 million websites on it; move on and search for another to promote.
You have to be aware of your competition, especially if you are a beginner. You chances of success competing in an overcrowded field dominated by experienced players are going to be slim. You can succeed, but it will take you a lot of time and effort to do so.
Commission
Go for affiliate programs which give you at least 50% of the price of the product as your commission to ensure maximum returns for your efforts.
There are also some affiliate programs which have multi-tier payments, where you receive a percentage of sales made by an affiliate who signed up under you. These kind of payments are certainly a bonus.
Also take note the frequency which the affiliate program pays you. It's frustrating to earn thousands per month but receiving the check only once every 6 months. So choose affiliate programs which pay you frequently.
An excellent place to check out, if you have not heard of already, is ClickBank.com. The latter specializes in promoting downloadable digital products such as eBooks. Affiliates who sign up under ClickBank can receive their checks once every 2 weeks.
Lastly, if an affiliate program requires you to pay to become an affiliate, forget about it and search for another one. Affiliate programs should pay you to promote their products, not the other way round.
Conclusion
As you can see, selecting an affiliate product to promote is not as easy as going to supermarket to purchase a loaf of bread. But choosing the right affiliate product is a solid foundation on which to ensure affiliate marketing success.
The information which I covered here is just one of the few techniques to start off successful affiliate marketer, and what you will need next is information on effective internet marketing strategies which any beginner should know and master. Getting Started in Internet Marketing - Don't Put it Off-By Carol Stack
By courtesy of Affiliate Marketing Secrets
What do You Need?
What does it take to get started in Internet marketing? It really only takes a computer, an Internet connection, a blog, a lot of time, and a lot of effort. Steve Pavlina started with just these things and after 18 months he was making a good income that many people would be thrilled to have.
Depending on how much time and effort you put into it, you might be able to copy Steve's success. Or if you put in a little time it could take you years.
You will also need a niche to focus on and knowledge about this niche. It will be easier to fill a blog with content if you know something about the topic. It isn't impossible to develop a site about an unfamiliar topic, but it is more difficult.
Monetizing Your Blog
How can you monetize your site? To start out with there is AdSense. AdSense has no minimum requirements. Anyone can sign up for an account.
There is also Chitika and Kontera. Kontera usually requires that a member's site has at least 500,000 hits a month.
Getting 500,000 hits a month isn't that hard if you have chosen a niche that gets a lot of searches. If you are in a niche that gets 180 searches a month you might never get 500,000 hits each month. But if you are in a niche that gets 150,000 searches a month it won't be difficult to meet Kontera's requirement.
You can also sign up for affiliate programs that sell products your readers would be interested in purchasing. Visit Commission Junction and sign up for a few stores that offer affiliates a decent share of the sales.
ClickBank is another possibility for Web site monetization. They have thousands of e-books and software programs that you can promote on your site. They pay as much as 70% of the purchase price to the affiliate. Choose one or more that you feel good recommending.
Once your site starts getting more traffic and gets higher page rank there are other options for monetization as well. For instance, you can sell text links. There are people who will pay over $100 to get a text link on a site that has a page rank of 7 or higher.
You can of course also promote your own product. Find out what the people in your niche are looking for by asking the people on your opt-in list what they would like. Then, make the product or hire someone else to create it.
This product can be for any niche. It can be a software program that organizes coins for coin collectors, or an e-book that instructs antique collectors how to find rare antiques for bargain prices.
Get Started Now
The Internet is the new Wild West where anyone can stake a claim and make money. You only need to be willing to work hard, devote a lot of your time, and persevere. There are people who are making thousands of dollars by their second or third month, and there are people who start making a few dollars a month with AdSense and build slowly.
If you want to try to make some extra money on the Internet you have to start now. Don't put it off. Register a domain name, get a hosting account, set up a free Wordpress blog, and start posting.
